MEDIA RELEASE: OUT OF TOUCH TURNBULL IN LOCK STEP WITH ABBOTT ON BUDGET

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull likes to try to distinguish himself from Tony Abbott, but when it comes to the Liberal’s unfair Budget, he's in lock step.

Giving a speech in Brisbane today, Mr Turnbull said:

“The failure to effectively make the case for Budget repair was our biggest failure”

MALCOLM TURNBULL - SPEECH - 11 MARCH 2015

If Mr Turnbull thinks the Budget sales job is the Government’s biggest failure, it goes to show how out of touch with everyday Australians he really is.

It’s not the sales job that’s the problem with the Budget, it’s the unfair measures it contains.

Mr Turnbull’s comments show it doesn’t matter who’s leading the Liberal Party; it’s lower and middle-income families who will pay the price.

Only a few weeks ago Mr Turnbull expressed his full support for every measure in the Budget including the GP Tax, $100,000 degrees and changes to pensions.

At every opportunity with this Budget the Liberal-National Government has favoured those who need it least and hurt those who can least afford it.

Today, it’s become clear that no matter who leads the Liberals, the unfairness will remain.
