SHOWCASING AUSTRALIAN ART ACROSS THE COUNTRY
The Albanese Labor Government is helping to bring awe-inspiring exhibitions to new audiences, delivering $1.4 million in funding through the latest round of the Visions of Australia program.
The grants will enable a number of eye-catching exhibitions to visit a combined 49 venues in cities, regional and remote locations across Australia.
This includes Patricia Piccinini’s Skywhales: Across Australia, the National Gallery of Australia’s iconic family of hot air balloons that will tour to eight venues across all states and the Northern Territory. This unique tour is timed to link in with a range of local cultural events and festivals.
Other tours to receive funding in this round of Visions include:
Billy Missi’n Wakain Thamai by Torres Strait Islander artist Billy Missi (1970-2012) will receive funding to bring over 50 major prints from Djumbunji Fine Art Print and private collections to 13 venues (NorthSite Contemporary Artists).
Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft | Helen Britton will receive funding to tour 9 venues showcasing the work of eminent craftsperson Helen Britton, the tenth artist of the series (Australian Design Centre).
First Nations artist Kait James’ solo exhibition which will tour seven venues, displaying her distinctly humorous and sharply witty approach to contemporary First Nations art, with funding for National Exhibitions Touring Support Victoria.
Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke, said art should be seen right across the country.
“A key commitment in Revive, our national cultural policy, is to make sure more audiences in more parts of Australia have access to the arts.
“The arts shouldn’t just be for our capital cities or for those who can afford it, they should be enjoyed by all of us.
“That’s exactly what this does.”
