TRAVEL TO NAURU

Today I will travel to Nauru to represent Australia at Nauru’s Independence Day celebrations.

Australia and Nauru have an important and enduring partnership based on shared history and close ties between our people. Australia is Nauru’s largest development, trade and security partner.

The recently announced Nauru-Australia Treaty will build on these strong foundations and help secure Nauru’s long-term economic resilience and security while drawing our two nations even closer together.

During my visit I will meet with senior members of the Nauruan Government, including President David Adeang.

I will also visit Nauru’s regional processing centre.
