BUSINESSES TO BENEFIT FROM FNQ DAMA EXTENSION
The Albanese Labor Government is pleased to announce a two year extension to the Far North Queensland (FNQ) Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA).
The program has helped local employers to address their unique economic and labour market needs with a level of flexibility that is not available in standard skilled migration programs.
Since 2019, close to 600 visas have been granted for workers across a range of industries including hospitality, construction, health care, manufacturing, agriculture and fishing.
The extension of the FNQ DAMA to April 2027 will provide certainty and continuity to local businesses.
FNQ employers will continue to be able to access the existing terms and conditions that are in operation under the FNQ DAMA, as well as any new occupations that are made available as part of the impending Deed of Variation of the FNQ DAMA.
QUOTE ATTRIBUTABLE TO MINISTER FOR IMMIGRATION AND MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS, TONY BURKE:
“The extension of this successful program means if you can’t find the workers locally, you can still make the business work without being tied down in red tape.
QUOTE ATTRIBUTABLE TO NITA GREEN, SENATOR FOR QUEENSLAND
“While we’re training local workers with Free TAFE, this program allows regional businesses the flexibility to employ migrants with skills they need.”
